The Department of Animal Sciences at Colorado State University focuses on teaching, research and extension, respectively. Recognizing that our students are our customers, we seek to provide outstanding teaching through nationally accredited professors that instruct at outstanding facilities.
The undergraduate programs are broken into three program areas: Animal Science, Equine Science and Food Science/Safety. The Animal Science and Equine Science majors are further broken down by industry or science concentrations. If you are a potential graduate student, please see our page for prospective graduate students.
We invite you to look at our facilities, review the courses offered, and finally schedule a visit to campus with a current Animal Sciences student.
Perspectives
Student
"I simply can't imagine another school or program that I would rather be involved with than CSU's Animal Sciences. The faculty that I have been lucky enough to work with are some of the best in the industry and there isn't any one else I would trust with my education. Outside of the classroom, I have gained practical experience in agriculture through participating on a world champion judging team and have made life long friends and future business partners through being invovled in several different clubs. Whatever your dreams, Colorado State University Animal Sciences can help you get there - Go Rams!." - A.J. Farrugia, Equine Science Industry Concentration
Faculty
"Colorado State's Department of Animal Sciences is stocked with faculty and staff who care about students. We strive to provide an educational experience that will maximize the employment opportunities of our graduates.
In addition to a top notch education, the Department of Animal Sciences offers a number of extra-curricular activities and teams that ultimately
contribute to producing a well rounded and educated individual who often times has numerous employment opportunities upon graduation." -Dr. Dave Denniston, Assistant Professor
