Block and Bridle Club Print E-mail

What is Block and Bridle?

Block and Bridle is basically the livestock club at Colorado State University.  If you have any interest in animal agriculture, we are the club to join.

So, why join?

The objectives of the Block and Bridle Club as stated by the National Block and Bridle Club are:

  • To promote a higher scholastic standard and a more complete understanding of the field of Animal Sciences among student members, and
  • To promote Animal Sciences through the development of a program of activities, especially all phases of student Animal Science work in colleges and Universities, and
  • To bring about a closer relationship among all students pursuing some phase of the Animal Sciences as a profession.

There is fun, too!

In Block and Bridle, we have several annual events.  We put on the Little National Western, where students have the opportunity to show an animal just like in the National Western Stock Show.  You can also attend National Convention, where you can meet other members of Block and Bridle from around the nation.  We also have industry tours and speakers as well as social events and community service projects.

Need more information?

Speakers and Tours:

  • The speakers and tours are tailored to address the latest issues and practices in each segment of the livestock industry, including equine, animal, and meat sciences.

Convention:

  • National Convention is held once a year in various locations at participating schools around the nation.  Colorado State held it in Denver during Stock Show in 2004.  Convention gives members an opportunity to get to know each other, as well as meet industry leaders and learn more about the livestock industry outside of the classroom.

Community Service:

  • We participate in Ag Adventures, which is an event where elemetary students go out to ARDEC and learn about agriculture.  Block and Bridle is in charge of the sheep.

Block and Bridle meets every first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in
Animal Sciences Room 114.

If you are interested in joining Block and Bridle, or have more questions, please
contact one of the current officers.
