Dr. Terry Engle, Assistant Professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University, was born and raised in Riverside, California. He attended Colorado State University, where he earned his B.S. degree in Animal Science (1993). He stayed at Colorado State University and earned an M.S. degree in Animal Science (1996). He furthered his education under the direction of Dr. Jerry Spears at North Carolina State University and earned his Ph.D. in Nutrition (1999). Dr. Engle then joined the faculty at Colorado State University in December 1999. During Engle’s undergraduate education at Colorado State, he gained research experience through several internships. While conducting beef cattle research during his graduate education at Colorado State University and North Carolina State University, he served as instructor and lecturer for several animal science courses. During his stay at NCSU, Dr. Engle also gained research experience with dairy cattle and swine. He has also attended and presented his research findings at professional meetings both domestic and abroad. Dr. Engle’s teaching responsibilities include Vitamin and Mineral Metabolism (AN 621), Animal Metabolism (AN 422), and other courses. Engle’s research interests include mineral metabolism in ruminants with primary emphasis on the role of minerals and other nutrients on immune response, disease resistance, and lipid metabolism. Further research interests include molecular aspects of mineral absorption and transport. Current research projects are exploring these topics using both in vivo and in vitro techniques. |
