CAFO Environmental Management/Ruminant Scientist,

Responsibilities:
The Department of Animal Sciences at Colorado State University is seeking a full-time, 9-month, 10% teaching, 60% research and 30% extension animal environmental scientist. Nine-month salaries will be competitive with national 12-month salaries with the opportunity to supplement the salary with extramural funding. We are seeking a dynamic individual to develop an innovative research and extension program in the area of air quality, waste management, environmental stewardship, and other nutritionally-related issues as they apply to dairy and beef feedlot production and management in the intermountain west. The successful applicant will be expected to build strong partnerships with members of the dairy and feedlot industries in Colorado while working in a team environment with other nutritional, soil and crop, and waste management research scientists. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the capstone production courses and graduate ruminant courses.
Qualifications:
Qualifications for the position include a Ph.D. (completed by the time of appointment) in ruminant nutrition, livestock nutrient management systems, environmental engineering, or a closely related field; a clear understanding of dairy and feedlot production systems; leadership and team skills, the ability to attract extramural research funding; the ability to publish in peer reviewed journals; and the ability to interact with industry. Strong skills in computing, applied and basic research and innovation in extension of research results to the industry are an expectation.
