POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Assistant/Associate Professor Center for Meat Safety & Quality Department of Animal Sciences, Colorado State University Position: Assistant/Associate Professor in Meat Science Location: Department of Animal Sciences, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado Available: September 1, 2008 through August 30, 2009 Description: A 9-month tenure-track position is available in the Center for Meat Safety & Quality, Department of Animal Sciences at Colorado State University. Although a 9-month appointment, the position has potential to provide a 12-month salary and benefit package. The successful candidate will serve as a meat outreach specialist and will be expected to develop a collaborative research program aligned with efforts of the Center for Meat Safety & Quality (approximately 75% Agricultural Experiment Station /25% Resident Instruction appointment, but negotiable). The Center for Meat Safety & Quality consists of seven additional faculty members having a wide expanse of expertise in livestock and meat production, domestic and international marketing, meat safety and animal welfare. Undergraduate teaching and advising will be expected in the applicant’s area of expertise, and the successful applicant will recruit, counsel and supervise graduate students, research associates and post-doctoral students. Ability to attract extramural funding to support research and outreach activities is essential. The successful applicant will have access to all Department experimental and RI animal herds, livestock feeding operations, wet laboratories and meat processing facilities, and CSU is located in close proximity to a wide cross-section of industry production facilities and trade organizations. The CSU main campus sits at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Northern Colorado, and offers excellent access to all outdoor interests, transportation and the Denver Metro Area.
