Mammary Biology
Department of Animal Sciences

We seek applicants to develop a creative, extramurally funded program focusing on nutritional, physiological, immunological or endocrinological research on mammary biology or milk secretion with the overall aim to improve the production efficiency, health, or healthfulness of milk from dairy cows.  Research focus areas may encompass the impacts of post-absorptive nutrient supply, hormones, cellular processes, or production situations that influence the development, function, and/or health of the bovine mammary glands.  The incumbent will be expected to develop active research collaborations with other scientists at The Ohio State University, such as those faculty members in other Departments in the Colleges of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences; Veterinary Medicine; Human Ecology; and Medicine.  The successful candidate will be expected to strengthen the department’s campus-based teaching goals in their area of expertise.

The successful candidate will join a department of 32 faculty members who maintain nationally and internationally recognized research, outreach, and undergraduate and graduate teaching programs in animal sciences.  The Ohio State University is one of the largest and most comprehensive research universities in the world.  The position is available as a 9-month appointment and located at the Wooster campus, which has excellent laboratory and research facilities.  Additional information regarding our department can be found at http://ansci.osu.edu/.

The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in dairy science, animal science, or related field with an emphasis on nutritional effects on the mammary gland.  Candidates should have clear evidence of outstanding scholarly achievement commensurate with their experience.  Post-doctoral experience is desired.  Standard hiring policy requires completion of a criminal background check.
